You can make a difference by volunteering
Volunteers play an important role at Educational Systems Federal Credit Union
Members who are interested in helping the Credit Union and the education community are encouraged to volunteer.
To start getting involved, members can participate in a focus group or one of our community service activities. In our focus groups, you will learn more about the Credit Union and provide feedback regarding how we help our members. As a participant in our community service activities, you can do things like help us stuff a bus with school supplies or join our team in delivering backpacks, hats, gloves and scarves to students in need at the school systems and community colleges we serve.
For members with more experience and/or knowledge, there may be opportunities to volunteer on the Supervisory Committee. The Supervisory Committee is responsible for the Credit Union’s annual CPA audit, reviewing complaints and concerns from members and supervising the Credit Union’s internal audit program. The Board of Directors appoints members to the Supervisory Committee. Training is provided and required for Supervisory Committee members.
For members with the most experience and/or knowledge, there may be opportunities to volunteer on the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is responsible for the governance of the Credit Union. They supervise the President/CEO, set policy and strategic direction and provide oversight for the Credit Union’s financial performance. Board members may also represent the Credit Union in the community when needed. Board members are nominated by the Nominating Committee, elected by the membership and serve three-year terms. Training is provided and required for Board members.

In addition, volunteers should have time to attend meetings, be committed to learning about credit unions and Educational Systems FCU, be interested in helping others become more knowledgeable about the Credit Union and its benefits and be comfortable with networking and recruiting new volunteers. Supervisory Committee members need to be detail-oriented, and Board members need to be able to focus on a strategic level. The Credit Union strives for diversity in its volunteers such as gender, race, profession, employer and geographic area.
